LEARNING DIVERSITY

In School Therapy

St Joseph's is very supportive of clinical access being granted when it is in the best interest of the student to undertake therapy sessions during the day and when there is space available.

In order for this to happen the following process must be followed:

  1. Guardian must complete the Guardian Request for Access form
  2. Therapist must complete the Therapist Request for Access form and provide the school with the necessary documentation
  3. Approval must be given from the school prior to therapy in school being started to ensure that there is space available and that it fits in with the student's timetable
  4. Therapist must complete the online induction form

Please note that there will be occasions when it is not possible to grant clinical access to the school. This is at the discretion of the Principal.

ASDAN

The ASDAN programs running at St Joseph’s School, secondary campus, are flexible accessible activity-based curriculum programs that can certificte a wide range of activities and subject areas.  The aim is to enable young people to understand themselves and others better, develop social skills, and become more prepared for making the transition to adult life.  The programs are tailored to the needs and abilities of individual students and empowers students through immersive, personalised learning and choice. Our courses motivate learners through short-term targets and regular recognition of achievement and are often project-based where students are hands-on with tool, equipment and activities.

Each year the students develop an ePortfolio on their iPad using Book Creator which is rigorously moderated by trained professionals at the end of the school year to assess and accredit the key skills demonstated by each student.
