St Joseph's School Northam is seeking applications for the following positions:

    Years 7 to 12 Mathematics/Science - Full-time, Ongoing

    1 January 2024

    This is a full-time, ongoing position for a Years 7 to 12 Teacher of Mathematics and Science with the ability to teach at an ATAR level preferred but not essential. 

    Selection Requirements:

    Special skills are needed and applications are invited from applicants who possess the following attributes: 

    *  Mathematics/Science Teacher (ability to teach Years 11 & 12 is preferred but not essential)
    *  be fully supportive of the objectives and ethos of Catholic Education
    *  be able to demonstrate highly competent classroom management and learning area skills
    *  possess a sound knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to integrate digital technology into their teaching practices
    *  be an enthusiastic and cooperative team person who will work collaboratively with all teachers and the Leadership Team
    *  understand the importance of feedback to parents and students
    *  show initiative and participate fully in school activities
    *  be a creative, flexible and enthusiastic educator
    *  demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and excellent communication and organisational skills
    *  hold a Bachelor of Education 4 year qualifications.

    School Counsellor or Social Worker  (Temporary, part-time)

    3 days per week, 40 weeks per year
    Salary will be based on experience

    The successful applicant will be employed as our School Counsellor (or Social Worker) having met the following selection criteria:

    Essential

    • Commitment to the values of a Catholic school
    • Appropriate qualification – a minimum Cert IV in Youth Work or a qualification that must include competencies in ‘mental health’ and ‘making appropriate referrals’.
    • Working with Children Check
    • Australian Federal Police criminal record check – CrimTrac
    • An understanding of relevant legislative requirements of child protection
    • A high level of communication skills
    • Demonstrated skills in managing confidential information
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to work with a range of people
    • Ability to relate to young people from Kindergarten to Year 12
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills
    • Proficient in the use of Information & Communication Technology
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Ability to use initiative
    • Capacity to work with individuals and small groups, as well as to present to larger groups when required.

    Desirable

    • Experience in a school environment

    Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School is required by all non-teaching staff new to a Catholic school, or moving between Catholic schools, on or after 1 January 2005 to be completed over four years.  Part-time staff will have a pro-rata timeline to complete the three modules required.  Persons appointed to the position of School Counsellor shall have completed or undertake to complete Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School requirements.
