Term One ~ Week Ten
6 April 2018
Our Prayer
Gospel: 2nd Sunday of Easter Year B
John 20:19-31
In the evening of that same day, the first day of the week, the doors were closed in the room where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews. Jesus came and stood among them. He said to them, 'Peace be with you,' and showed them his hands and his side. The disciples were filled with joy when they saw the Lord, and he said to them again,
'Peace be with you. 'As the Father sent me, so am I sending you.' After saying this he breathed on them and said:
'Receive the Holy Spirit. For those whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven; for those whose sins you retain, they are retained.'
Thomas, called the Twin, who was one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.
When the disciples said, 'We have seen the Lord,' he answered,
'Unless I see the holes they made, and unless I can put my hand into his side, I refuse to believe.'
Eight days later the disciples were in the house again and Thomas was with them. The doors were closed, but Jesus came in and stood among them. 'Peace be with you,' he said. Then he spoke to Thomas,
'Put your finger here; look, here are my hands. Give me your hand; put it into my side. Doubt no longer but believe.'
Thomas replied, 'My Lord and my God!' Jesus said to him:
'You believe because you can see me. Happy are those who have not seen and yet believe.'
There were many other signs that Jesus worked and the disciples saw, but they are not recorded in this book. These are recorded so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing this you may have life through his name.

Year 6 Camp
Next week the Year 6 students will be heading off on a three day camp at Bickley Outdoor Recreation Camp. Bickley's unique bush location provides an ideal escape from school and gives the students an opportunity to build on their leadership and friendship skills. The students will participate in a wide variety of adventure activities creating a unique camp experience. Mr James, Mr Reidy, Mrs Johnson and myself will accompany the students. Wishing everyone a safe and exciting camp.
Kindergarten Visitor
On Wednesday this week, our Kindergarten students had a visit from Troy who showed us his brand new truck. This was to introduce their Term 2 theme of Transport. The students were shown all the various parts of the truck and thought the horn was the best part! Thank you to Ms Hollett and Mrs Morris for this fun educational experience.
Primary Test Books
Primary Test Books have been sent home this week. I encourage parents to sit down with your child and read through each assessment and any comments made by the classroom teacher. Once you have done this, please sign and comment on the page provided in the Test Book and return the Book to class by Wednesday 11 April.
Primary Learning Journeys
The Primary Learning Journeys are a wonderful opportunity for parents to visit their child’s classroom and spend time going through workbooks, participating in activities and touching base with the classroom teacher. This year was no exception with a large number of families coming along to enjoy this experience. Thank you to the classroom teachers for supporting this event and displaying lovely, interactive classrooms.
Pre Primary AEDC
Students in Pre Primary will be taking part in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC) which will be held during May. The AEDC is an Australian Government initiative run by the Department of Education and Training. Data collected during this census period has shown to be very useful in policy implementation for a number of bodies, including government, non-government education departments and school systems; as well as other organisations such as health departments, to improve programs and policies for young children.
A letter detailing the census rationale and outlining the process will be sent to parents and caregivers of our Pre Primary students on Monday 9 April. If you have any queries regarding your child’s participation, please contact Rebecca Clarke.
